In northeastern Colorado, the Union Pacific Railroad's grading crews and track layers started work on the Julesburg Cutoff at Denver Junction during 1873, near present-day Julesburg. This was the beginning of fascinating railroad operations in Sterling and the nearby area. Both the Burlington Route and the Union Pacific became active in the region. This wonderfully illustrated volume contains 400 black & white pictures and 32 full-color views, as well as numerous route maps, timetables, etc. Included are an amazing variety of steam-engine pictures and views of modern-day diesel power–including the first Union Pacific streamliners–352 pages–hardbound.
