ISBN No. 0-913582-66-2

This volume begins with the founding of Dolores and the long battle of the town to obtain a real depot from the RGS, instead of a boxcar body. The growth of the town and the railroad are illustrated in a multitude of pictures, drawings, and maps. The livestock industry, the World War II period, and railfan excursion trips into the area capture the frontier-type setting of Dolores. The New Mexico Lumber Company at McPhee begins with the construction of its railroad in 1924, as it laid some 42 miles of track, utilizing seven different locomotives. Contains 496 pages featuring 470 black-and-white views and 32 full-color pictures.
